Revitalize, Rediscover, Reimagine.

The City of Camrose is developing an Urban Design Framework (UDF) to help shape the future of our downtown. Building on the Downtown Area Redevelopment Plan (DARP) adopted in 2019, the UDF will provide a clear vision, goals, and design principles to guide how new development, renovations, and public spaces take shape in the heart of our community.

This framework will ensure that downtown Camrose continues to grow as a cohesive, attractive, functional, and livable urban environment—one that respects our heritage and character while supporting new opportunities for business, housing, and community life.

The UDF will serve as a roadmap for decision-making, helping builders, developers, business owners, and City staff align projects with the community’s vision. Most importantly, it will be informed by the people who live, work, and invest in Camrose.

Stay tuned for opportunities to engage. Your voice will play a key role in shaping how our downtown looks and feels in the future.

Public engagement was a key component of the Urban Design Framework (UDF) project and was undertaken in two phases. Phase One focused on understanding community perceptions, priorities, and aspirations to help inform the initial development of the UDF. Engagement activities included a downtown walking tour, an in-person workshop, and a community survey.

Phase Two focused on refining the draft UDF through an additional public survey. The key findings from the two phases are summarized in the What We Heard Report. Overall, the engagement project helped validate the framework’s direction, with the feedback received directly informing and shaping the recommendations and design guidance included in the final UDF.

We would like to thank everyone who participated in the public engagement process for the UDF project. Your input has played an important role in shaping the final framework, and we look forward to implementing the UDF as we continue to enhance and revitalize Downtown.
