Leave your mark on Camrose and help us COLOUR THE UNDERPASS!!

We have heard that our community is proud of our dynamic arts and culture scene as well as our parks, green spaces, and recreational facilities that offer a wide range of health and recreation opportunities for every age. The purpose of this City-led, Community-driven project is to transform the current underpass between the City's Rotary Park and Mirror Lake Park to a vibrant, welcoming, and artistic place for the community to use as a walkway.

The Culture and Recreation Department at the City of Camrose is working to create a project that incorporates as many individuals and groups from our City as possible by bringing individuals, business, non profits, cultural and recreational groups, and other community members together through art. You don't need to be an artist to participate!

By including multiple stakeholders as artists in the Colour the Underpass Community Creative Art Project, it encourages participation and creativity from artists as well as encouraging people to get outside, get active, and view art from local artists and organizations along the way.

The Underpass will become a destination to visit on your walk. It will provide a safe space to showcase and express artistically the diversity of our community and will contribute to the overall inventory of public art in the City of Camrose, representing as many different community stakeholders as possible. We want to see everyone, from the most accomplished artists in our community to preschoolers, and everyone in between, have the opportunity to take part and feel ownership in this unique space.

The underpass is divided into 50 panels which will act as our community canvas. These are 6' wide x 6.5' high. Depending on the number of participants these panels could also be divided in half or quarters to accommodate more participation.

Please follow this project to hear more as we move towards painting days and take our survey below to give us your opinion on how this project can be designed.
