Summary: Water Distribution Master Plan Updates

In April 2024, the City engaged Associated Engineering (AE) to review and update the City’s Water Distribution Master Plan, which was last updated in 2006. The study area for consideration under the current review consisted of all lands within the City of Camrose, as well as approximately 750 hectares of land located within Camrose County, which are part of the Coordinated Service Areas (CSAs) as outlined in the Camrose Intermunicipal Development Plan.

Through their study, AE reviewed various background planning documents, including the City’s updated growth study and recent water consumption records. AE updated an existing WaterCAD computer model to identify any bottlenecks in the City’s water distribution network, and to identify recommended upgrades to address those bottlenecks (see Section 3 of the final report).

In addition to looking at the existing water distribution network, AE developed a model to identify the conceptual layout and pipe sizes to support future growth within the study area (see Section 4 of the final report). Similar to what was done for the other utility master plans, the City instructed AE to consider future growth based on one of four growth horizons (0-10 years, 10-25 years, 25-50 years, beyond 50 years). Conceptual pipe sizes and alignments are indicated on various figures in the final report.
