We love the trails in Camrose, and we know you do too! That's why we are making a Trails Master Plan.

Background

The City of Camrose is an active outdoor community, and within its city limits, there are a lot of recreational trails catering to various interests. One of the standout features of the trail system is the Stoney Creek Valley Nordic trails, a favorite among outdoor enthusiasts. During winter, these trails are groomed for both classic and skate skiing, while in the summer, they are mowed, allowing for activities like hiking, running, cycling, and more.

As trail usage continues to rise, especially with the Stoney Creek system, conflicts between different user groups have started to emerge. The winter months, in particular, witness challenges related to trail connectivity within the valley, as groomed, natural trails are primarily designed for skiing, not accessible to pedestrians and hikers and cyclists, and occasionally disconnect paved walking paths.

Public Consultation

The survey and public input part of this project is complete. Look forward to seeing this plan presented to Council in 2024.
