Waste Management Group and Circular Materials to open new recycling facility in Edmonton

Edmonton will get a new recycling facility in 2027—a preconditioning recycling facility that uses newer technology to sort through plastics, packaging, and other materials by using near-infared and optical sortation systems to better identify and sort recycling materials—helping keep more out of the landfill.

This is a joint initiative by Waste Management Group and Circular Materials in support of Alberta's Extended Producer Responsibility program. Once in operation, the new facility in Edmonton would manage a significant portion of Alberta's residential recyclable material.
